PAYDAŞ Eğitim Kültür ve Sanat Derneği was invated to the concert by the Athens-based Society for Hellenism and Philhellenism (SHP) on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the death of the British poet Lord Byron. President Önder Küçüköner attended the concert on behalf of the association.
The opening speeches of the event held at the Odeon of Herodos Atticus Ancient Theater were made by SHP Chairman Konstantinos Velentzas, Minister of National Defense Nikos Dendias and British Ambassador Matthew Lodge.
The concert directed by Lina Nikolakopoulou, started wıth poerty reading by writer and journalist Victoria Hislop and Oxford University literatüre professor Alicia E. Stallings. Many poems by Lord Byron as well as Greek and Hellenic poets were performed at the concert.
In the first part, ERT Contemporary Music Orchestra, with lead musician Giorgos Aravidis, performed the works of British Philhellen composer Tom Smail and the songs and music of Greek composers
SHP displayed portraits of 80 symbolic Philhellen, each carrying the flag of their country, on the Herodeion wall throughout the concert..
