Description of the Project:
The new technologies development and the free movement of workforce in a common market, are the best premises for EU to develop and for its citizens to live a happy life. However, there have been lots of difficulties lately, one of them has been the migrants crisis, in which we witness the confrontation between different cultures, raising the need of identity issues, for both, EU citizens and migrants. We all have, multiple layers of our identity starting from personal, national or international level. We shape our identity continuously, searching for our roots, and at the same time choosing our values and beliefs. European citizens have plenty to learn about their common identity from the great cultural heritage which exists across the Europe. The teachers have got a unique chance to influence identity thinking, inclusion ideas and critical thinking of their pupils or students which can bring more understanding to current and future problematic situations. However, teachers need some support. They need to think about, share best practices, get proper resources for educating students in the European spirit and the many facets it offers. For Europeans, cultural heritage presents similarities between shapes and patterns, music and dances, some coming from very remote areas, proving our brotherhood, as historians and geneticists also proved, altogether. For this, we are basing on two resources: the richness of European cultural heritage and the teachers ability to disseminate its richness and the inner values. Since our goal is to tighten the cohesion, not only between co-nationals, but also between citizens from different countries, we need to collaborate on an international level, to share cultural legacies and eliminate stereotypes or prejudice.
In this context project objectives are: Enabling teachers to strengthen the teaching by addressing cultural diversity in the classroom, promoting the intercultural dialogue and mutual understanding between students and people with different backgrounds, by emphasizing that different cultural expressions and behaviours could lead towards the same outcomes, with the respect of human rights and European values
Enabling teachers and students to tackle with cultural differences and promoting progressive behaviours, appropriate for our times and development, in the age of democratisation of information through technology and globalisation;
Enabling teachers to support the European heritage and values as a strong chance for economic growth, job creation and social cohesion through collaboration between organizations from different countries, as schools, museums and cultural-social associations.
Raising the students awareness about the cultural heritage and support its use as educational resource.
Creating open educational resources based on the uses of cultural heritage, ICT integration in education.
Strengthening the teaching profession through new skills acquisition and recognition the importance of the teachers role in society.
Promoting inclusive education and strengthening social cohesion, reminding that all of the European citizens have common values and interests; Supporting and disseminating the power connection between the European cultural heritage/values.
