Organized by Paydaş Eğitim Kültür Sanat Derneği and hosted by Birikim Kültür Sanat Derneği, we came together in a P4C workshop facilitated by Devrim Sarı Battistessa.
In our philosophical inquiry,
we embarked on a journey into the concept of “Child”, inspired by April 23rd National Sovereignty and Children’s Day.
With the meaningful contributions of the participants, we unlocked many doors of thought through the theme of “Child”:
We listened to childhood.
We heard an excerpt from The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.
Childhood had some critiques for adulthood. It wanted to be understood and heard.
It longed for imagination to be appreciated. It sounded a bit reproachful, a bit sarcastic, perhaps even on the verge of giving up. Yet, it always carried hope in its pocket.
It’s hard not to agree with it.
We traveled from question to question:
– What does it mean to be oneself?
– In a life shaped by the expectations of society, our family, and those around us, is it possible to find our own voice?
– Does hearing our own voice truly allow us to be ourselves?
– Is it possible to be authentic?
– Is our inner voice really our own, or does it echo the voices of others?
– Where do we stand between the person our parents expect us to be and our true self within?
– Do societal expectations prevent us from discovering our true identity? Why?
– Does having the freedom to choose nurture our freedom and authenticity?
And finally…
Amidst all these questions, can we still hear our own voice?
