Zonguldak Gençlik ve Spor İl Müdürlüğü with the contributions of Paydaş Derneği, Zonguldak Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Şaban Teoman Duralı Science and Art Center, the Zonguldak Gençlik Merkezi Energy Workshop aims to raise awareness among young people about the energy sector and prepare them for the professions of the future.
Within the scope of the workshop, theoretical and practical training is provided on energy resources, natural gas, renewable energy, energy efficiency, and environmental sustainability. Students participating in the program have the opportunity to closely examine the process of energy from production to consumption, while also gaining insight into career paths within the energy sector.
During the workshops, attention is drawn to Zonguldak’s energy journey, which began with coal and has gained a new dimension with the extraction of Filyos natural gas, highlighting the city’s strategic position on its path to becoming an energy hub. Through the Filyos Natural Gas Project, Türkiye’s energy vision is conveyed to young participants. The training sessions are supported by interactive presentations, workshop activities, and hands-on practices.
Through the Energy Workshop, it is aimed that young people become familiar with developments in the energy sector, especially the investments in the Filyos region. At the same time, the program seeks to help young participants gain technical knowledge, develop sensitivity toward sustainability, enhance their project development and innovation capacities, produce projects with entrepreneurial ideas for national and international competitions, and actively participate in Zonguldak’s energy transition.
Currently, 16 sixth-grade students are receiving training at the Energy Workshop, and it is planned to expand the program in the coming periods with new training modules designed for university-level age groups.
