We had an engaging conversation with Associate Professor Hamza Ekmen, organized by the Paydaş Derneği.
🌿 In the shade of the Gümeli Yew, we embarked on a journey reaching back thousands of years.
The Gümeli Yew, a living witness to the history of Zonguldak, and the Late Bronze Age discoveries uncovered in the İnönü Cave were discussed as remarkable examples of humanity’s ancient relationship with nature. Objects made from yew wood and dated to approximately 3,200 years ago demonstrated that nature has been not only a habitat, but also a cultural companion throughout human history.
In this conversation with Hamza Ekmen, we explored:
- The prehistory of the Western Black Sea region
- The relationship between Bronze Age communities and their environment
- Nature and cultural continuity
📍 Together, we searched for traces of the past within the memory of nature.
