Project Summary
Beyond Borders: Towards a More Connected Europe Through Language is an international youth exchange project that aims to strengthen communication, cooperation, and social inclusion in Europe by using linguistic intercomprehension and intercultural education as key tools.
In a context where English has increasingly become the main lingua franca, the project seeks to demonstrate that linguistic diversity should not be seen as a barrier, but rather as a bridge between societies. Throughout the project, young people experienced how to understand one another by using their mother tongues and other languages, manage cultural differences positively, and build a shared European identity.
Young participants from Turkey, Spain, Bulgaria, Serbia, and Slovakia took part in game-based learning activities, interactive workshops, cultural sharing sessions, and group work. These methods enhanced both their linguistic awareness and their intercultural communication skills.
Project Objectives
- To develop participants’ ability to communicate in different languages without relying exclusively on English
- To strengthen intercultural competences and experience cultural diversity as a valuable asset
- To promote social inclusion by encouraging the participation of young people with fewer opportunities in international projects
- To create sustainable transnational youth networks among participants from different countries
- To foster active citizenship and strengthen European identity
- To increase young people’s interest in Erasmus+ programmes and non-formal education activities
Tangible Outcomes and Achievements
- Improved linguistic intercomprehension skills
- Increased intercultural awareness and empathy
